GESTE Paris is pleased to announce the private group exhibition "Future Conditional"

From November 3rd to December 18th from Wednesday to Saturday 12:00-18:00 and by appointment.
Vernissage : Wednesday 3 November 18:00-22:00
Nocturne in the presence of the artists : Monday 8 November 18:00-22:00
Artist talks : Saturday 13 November 14:00 and 16:00

The 2021 edition of GESTE Paris, Future Conditional, curated by Shiva Lynn Burgos and Georg Bak defines the theme according to its relationship to Art, Language and Philosophy. 

A collective artistic reaction to what lies ahead is both cathartic and prophetic in its reflection. “The fulfillment of the only future we can imagine, whether utopian or apocalyptic, is, on some deep level, satisfying." 

Creative practices of future-conditional knowledge-making unavoidably draw on dominant imaginaries of socio-technical and environmental futures, hypotheticals.  Questions of uncertainty, invisibility and post-photographic prototyping arise.

This 5th edition of GESTE Paris will include both a physical and online exhibition including experimental, photographic and digital works and sound installation with a section of pioneering NFTs. Held in the intimate setting of a private classical Parisian home, GESTE is the nexus of a private collection, works from prestigious galleries and a selection from guest curators.

Le thème de l’édition 2021 de GESTE Paris, Futur Conditionnel, organisé par Shiva Lynn Burgos et Georg Bak, s’articule en fonction de son rapport à l'art, au langage et à la philosophie. 

La volonté d’une réaction artistique collective à ce qui nous attend est à la fois cathartique et prophétique. « L'accomplissement du seul avenir que nous puissions imaginer, qu'il soit utopique ou apocalyptique, est satisfaisant, à un certain degré. »

Les pratiques créatives de approfondissement des connaissances aux futurs conditionnels s'appuient inévitablement sur les imaginaires prépondérants de l’avenir sociotechnique, environnemental, et hypothétique. Ça soulève les questions de l’incertitude, de l’invisibilité et du prototypage post-photographique.

Cette 5e édition de GESTE Paris aura lieu dans le cadre intime d'un appartement privé typiquement parisien et sera également disponible en ligne, afin de pouvoir proposer un choix d’œuvres expérimentales, des pièces photographiques et numériques, d’installations sonores et une section de NFTs.

GESTE Paris fait interagir des œuvres issues d’une collection privée, de pièces provenant de prestigieuses galeries, et d’une sélection effectuée par des commissaires invités.
